The patient is placed in a pelvic harness secured to one end of the table, and a controlled force is applied to distract the spine. Mechanical traction can provide relief of pain, muscle spasm, improve range of motion, and help restore function to the lower back. At OSPT we utilize the Saunders Mechanical lumbar traction.
